Back and Forth

This past week or so I wrote a couple pages of the sixth and seventh books in the Slowpocalypse series, in addition to the bit of revision I managed on Book 5. (I know work on that next novel has been going slow, but one of the benefits of taking this long is getting to know my main character better. Duncan is not only new, he’s also a rather reserved sort of fellow, and it’s been difficult getting a handle on what makes him tick. But part of my job is making it easy for you to get into his head, however hard that’s been for me.) But thinking about the overall story for the series, I got inspired. So I went ahead and wrote parts of a couple scenes for those future volumes while they were in my head.

Allowing myself the freedom to spend time writing stuff besides the next novel is working out well. I also wrote several pages starting what will likely be the next to the last (or maybe the next to the next to the last) chapter of Watchbearers Book 5. That has Nye going backward and forward in time and trying hard not to encounter herself along the way.

Of course, this is the holiday season, but I don’t intend to take any vacation from my writing. On the other hand, we just got a Roku. And while I don’t typically watch much television…

Now I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!
