I’d like to thank goodreads giveaway winner Sherri in Michigan for her review of Uncertain Murder. (And I’m glad she liked it.)
As for my new novel, I finished that one really long chapter and then wrote another that actually comes before it. I’m not sure if that counts as forward progress, since it didn’t get me much closer to the end. I also switched the order of a couple other chapters. That kind of reblocking of a story during a first draft isn’t unprecedented – by the time I finish round 1, I want the overall structure of the narrative to be in the right shape, so I shift things around as I need to and then smooth it all out in subsequent drafts.
While I hope to finish this first draft by next week, at the rate I’ve been going I’ll be happy if I’m done and moving on to the rewrite by the week after. So far this story is more work than previous books, but I believe it’ll be worth it. Stay tuned.
