What I’ve been doing (and hope to do next)
In the first week of 2014, I completed the first draft of Slowpocalypse Book 2 – which required writing an extra chapter and, when I was reviewing what I’d written, changing the order of a few chapters. Also moving a few bits around and re-writing them from the viewpoints of different characters.
Making some changes to get the narrative structure right for the story to flow – that’s part of my process for finishing a first draft, but this time was more involved than it’s been previously. (For more details on how and why, you’ll have to wait for the story behind the story.)
Then I made notes on the things I know I want to change as I go through the second draft, and I’ve started in on the re-write. Since I know the story now, I should be able to do a better job of telling it.
And a scheduling note: since I’m doing these weekly updates on Tuesdays, I plan on putting my main posts up for the weekends, probably on Friday nights.
